The future of taxis

Some serious thought surrounds driverless cars. The first is that the technology is 100% complete and the range can be reached quickly, which means that cars can drive safely in all situations. When this happens, the world will change rapidly as driving begins to disappear, urban spaces will be rebuilt and road traffic will become safer every day.

The other is that the last is more difficult than all previous progress combined. Thus, for years, we will stick to cars that are good enough to prove that they can go down the street with safety drivers and continue to be tested, funded and improved, but not enough to start a business.

Both points of view can be true. At the same time, a good car at 100% is enough to run a taxi service, as shown, where is launched by taxi competitors. The most interesting thing about the service is its interest. Taxis are not much cheaper than the competition. Displacements sometimes failed because cautious algorithms were blocked in unions.

Maybe one-day driverless cars will change our lives forever, but not yet.
